Day 7: favorite bird

I know, I know… I skipped day six. my favorite drink is just a latte, and it wasn’t terribly inspiring. So, I’m moving onto my favorite bird. If I’m so inclined, later I might add in the drink. But it is good for me to battle my perfectionist tendencies :-).
So today I’m giving you my favorite bird. I didn’t even know the name of it, I just knew I wanted to draw it. After incorrectly searching for a secretary bird, a little research brought up the west African crowned crane…

Day five: my favorite movie

So obviously, having been out of town I am playing catch-up on my posts…

But you’re going to get 20 quotes on this one. First:

“What you do not smell is called iocaine powder. It is odorless, tasteless, dissolves instantly water and is among the more deadly poisons known to man.”

Okay, number two…
“Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid as a child or something?”
“Oh no. It’s just that that they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.”

“Vicini. He can… fuss.”
“Fuss… Fuss… I think he likes to yell… At us!”
“Probably, he means no… harm. ”
“He’s very very short on… charm!”

Still nothing? Try this…

“I just sucked one year of your life away. I may one day go as high as five, but I really don’t know what that would do to you, so let’s start with that we have shall we? Tell me. How do you feel? And remember… This is for posterity, so be honest. ”

“No, no, no. I need the Man in Black. ”
“What?!? ”
“Listen, Fezzick. He bested my steel. He bested your strength, your greatness. He must have out thought Vicini. And the man who can do that, can plan my castle onslaught any day!”
“But, we don’t know where he is…”
“Don’t bother me with trifles. After 20 years, my father’s soul will be at peace. There will be blood tonight!”

Okay, if you don’t get it with this one, you’re fired.

“Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

Day 4: a secret about myself…..

I have a really, really, excruciatingly good reason for delaying my posts… Actually, it ties into this sketch. I was out of town until now visiting family in central Texas where there is a void of cell phone coverage, etc. Among other things, I was visiting my great aunt Patsy. But let me start at the beginning…
My last grandparent passed away a few years ago. However, I felt as if I lost my grandparents many, many years ago. Through situations that were partly of their own making and partly the fault other people, they began raising my cousins. They had to be parents, which left them little time or energy to be grandparents. Yes, yes… Poor me… Moving on…
My grandfather was the second born of nine children – eight of whom survived to adulthood. My great aunt Patsy is one of his younger sisters. About five years ago, I stayed with my aunt Patsy along with my parents, my husband and my children. I didn’t realize how long it been since someone had treated me like a grandkid until I was in Patsy’s house. It was difficult to keep her from waiting on us hand and foot, but that wasn’t what was so wonderful. It was the unconditional love and acceptance that is just part of who she is. She’s not naïve. She knows that people do stupid things at times, but she loves them anyway, and I’ve never seen her treat anyone with anything but kindness.
On that trip, the pecans were falling from her three trees. As I was enjoying just being there, I picked up a pecan and just hung on to it. I put it in my purse for no apparent reason. It’s still there to this day. And every time I randomly find it in my purse, I smile and think of my precious aunt.
So there’s my secret, I keep a pecan in my purse.

Day 3: first mode of transportation… Caught up!

Seems odd that I can even remember, but I got my first set of wheels at the tender age of three. My family had just moved from Texas to Colorado along with a slew of other families. Ther weren’t a lot of acqaintances yet, so my third birthday had quite a few older guests. I distinctly remember navigating through legs in the living room of my new home on my….

Day two: favorite sport… Still behind :-)

It is very difficult to live in Denver and not be a football fan. Despite the variable performance of the team there is always drama… Will rookie Tebow replace Orton?(Yes, and midseason at that, turning a losing season into a playoff bid…) Will Elway ever fully support Tebow?(Nope.) What!?!? PFM!?!? I love your heart, Tim, but when Peyton Manning calls, you accept the charges… And how will Manning perform after a season of not playing due to neck surgery? (Obviously, pretty freaking awesome …)

New challenge and I’m already a day behind…

So I have agreed to take part in another drawing challenge… However I completely forgot that it started yesterday until about 11 o’clock at night :-). Ha ha! Nothing like starting from behind! Day one: Muppet. Awesome! So I give you Statler and Waldorf the grumpiest of grumpy old men casting their derisive glare upon the Muppet show stage…
